I am so very sad about this and the fact that she had 4 beautiful children who will not get to know the wonderful person we knew.

Just yesterday I was thinking about Sonya and wondered if she was going to attend the reunion. I spoke with her quite a bit after our 10 year and she was among the many who couldn't attend due to having new babies to care for. I hadn't talked with her for a few years and was unaware of her condition. Needless to say the news of her passing was not expected. Sonya was part of the group working at United Westgate during high school and we all had a great time juggling work, school, and our other commitments. Through all this we got to know each other like family and Sonya was one of those people that made it fun to go to work and school. She was a jewel of a person and will be sorely missed by anyone who knew her and anyone she touched in her life. My thoughts are with her family.

It's so very hard to believe that she's gone! Lindy and I represented the class of '87 at Sonya's funeral and her family was grateful. Michael Goss surprised us by showing up at the visitation, as well. (Thank you so much, Michael!)
My life would not have been the same without Sonya's beautiful smile, caring ways, and the fun we had in laughing our way through Jr. High & High School! She has been an amazing friend to me for the past 26 years. I will miss her always! Her family is absolutely precious! Let us never forget Sonya, and let's figure out a way to express to her husband and children what a special friend she was to us all!

I'm so sad to hear of Sonyas passing. She was always such a cool person to be around and accepted people for themselves. Never passing judgement. I remember her singing in a talent assembly at Waller and being amazed at her beautiful voice. I'm sorry to hear this sad news.

    My Son,
How precious to know that you did everything you ever set out to do:
    Serve God,
Give pride and joy to your friends and family,
Make a happy man of your husband,
Bring wonderful children into the world and love them endlessly.

Still, somehow you managed to leave your mark on each of us even beyond those things. Whether it's your voice that never cracked as you sang like an angel, your lipstick kisses upon our foreheads, you've left lifelong impressions on all who knew and loved you. We will spend our time on earth reminded of your bravery and your calm. We will miss your arms round us, but will be comforted knowing that your heavenly voice sings on.

With love from a kid you first smiled at in 1982,

    Lindy
